Camp Leader
The Summer Video Camp is led by Robert French, the Film and Television teacher at Brookswood Secondary School in Langley, BC.
Prior to becoming a teacher at Brookswood in 2011, Mr. French spent 15 years involved in the film production industry as: producer, screenwriter, line producer, production manager, story editor, and as a post-secondary educator teaching production and screenwriting at BCIT and PAVI. He's been involved with almost every aspect of film creation, from raising financing through to the sales and marketing of completed projects. Film festivals and conferences have invited him to discuss production and screenwriting with attendees, allowing others to learn from his valuable industry insights. He has been a special guest at numerous film festivals across Canada and around the world, including Shanghai, Sweden, Germany, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
Mr. French is a popular, well-liked teacher at Brookswood, but he can't put on the Camp alone.

Camp Counsellors
Helping Mr. French for the week of the day camp are student Counsellors, who are all either current senior students or alumni of the Backstreet Studios film department. All Counsellors have knowledge of the equipment and technology found within the studio and are an integral part of the Summer Video Camp program. Participants are divided into groups, each led by different Counsellors, where they then proceed to make films.
